Tranzparts Leading the Way: Introducing Our First Electric Van

by | Mar 22, 2024 | Blog | 0 comments

At Tranzparts, we are proud to announce a significant milestone in our sustainability journey. Today, we are delighted to unveil our inaugural electric van, marking a momentous advancement for our company and the commercial vehicle (CV) industry as a whole. As trailblazers in commercial vehicle parts supply, we are steadfast in our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and embracing cutting-edge solutions. From streamlining our dispatch and delivery processes with Autovolt to the introduction of electric vehicles, progress and sustainability are paramount in our operations.

Embracing Sustainability:

Innovation is ingrained in our ethos at Tranzparts. From our day-to-day operations to our long-term strategic planning, we are dedicated to minimizing our environmental impact and helping offset that of our customers. The introduction of our electric vehicles underscores our ongoing dedication to sustainability and our resolve to lead by example in the CV parts industry. As part of our sustainability endeavors, we have also installed vehicle charging points at our Preston headquarters, ensuring that we can continue delivering top-tier service to our customers.

Reducing Our Carbon Footprint:

According to a study by MIT, traditional diesel vans emit over 350 grams of CO2 per mile driven over their lifetimes. In contrast, our fully battery-electric vehicle emits just 200 grams per mile, inclusive of all emissions during manufacturing. By substituting one diesel van with our electric counterpart, we are saving approximately 150 grams of CO2 per mile driven.

Considering the average mileage of our vans, which is around 200 miles per day, the daily carbon footprint savings for just one van would amount to an impressive 30,000 grams, or 30 kilograms, of CO2. Over a year, this equates to a substantial reduction of approximately 7.5 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Looking Ahead:

However, our journey towards sustainability is far from complete. We have teamed up with Alex Woodcock at Burnley-based XLCR, and in the forthcoming months, we are eager to expand our electric fleet by replacing 20% of our fleet with electric vans by year-end. This initiative underscores our unwavering dedication to emissions reduction and the adoption of clean energy solutions. With each new electric vehicle, we are edging closer to our vision of a greener, more sustainable future.
